Chandler High kicked off the 2015 season on Thursday with a dominant 56-10 win over Pinnacle on Thursday, scoring on the very first play, and each of their next four drives.
Mason Moran, in his first start, threw for 193 yards and two TDs, rushing for another two scores.
Chandler’s defense held freshman QB Spencer Rattler to 126 yards on 15/27 passing, intercepting him three times and adding three sacks. Dereck Williams intercepted Rattler on the last pass of the second half, and on Rattler’s first pass of the second half, Isiah Swann returned the pick 30 yards for a TD.
Chase Lucas scored an 80 yard TD on his first carry of the game, and reserve running backs Anthony Clay and TJ Green combined 162 yards and 2 TDs on the ground. Micah Reed Campos scored twice, but had both called back due to penalties.
After the game, Chandler coach Shaun Aguano praised his team’s performance, but cautioned them to stay on task this week in preparation for Bishop Gorman on ESPN next Saturday.
Chandler has scored at least 54 points against an opponent for the 7th time in the last 14 games.
Play of the game: Kolby Taylor receives a 15 yard pass in the middle of the field and breaks two tackles on his way to a 40 yard receiving score.
